Joshua Smotherman brings to the Conservatory his experience working for independent publishers on Music Row in Nashville, and a thorough understanding of the strategies, tools and resources available in the rapidly developing new media and digital marketing industries to the classroom.
Smotherman is currently the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) at Unlimited Sounds, a California-based music distribution and licensing company. He joined the company in 2015. He has developed the company's web presence and implemented strategies to enhance their social media presence. Artists and rights holders partnering with Unlimited Sounds benefit Joshua's expertise in websites and marketing strategies, as well as the various aspects of developing a career as an Indie musician in the digital age.
Joshua has been writing about independent music and interviewing artists since 2011 for MiddleTennesseMusic.com, which he has now rebranded as IndieMusicDiscover.com. He has authored two books, Getting Your Music Heard Online (co-authored with C. Bret Campbell), and ReverbNation: The Mini-Guide.
