With a growing number of therapeutic oligonucleotide compounds in drug development and clinical trials and the complexity of structural modifications introduced, the impurity profiling and analytical control of related starting materials has increased in importance.In this seminar, Sven Hackbusch will present a recent application that showcases the characterization of a phosphoramidite raw material, i.e. 5’-dimethyloxytrityl-2'-fluoro-N-benzoyladenosine cyanoethyl phosphoramidite (5’-DMT-2’-F-A(bz)- CEP). The seminar will also delve into the structure elucidation of detected impurities using the Vanquish Horizon UHPLC system coupled with the Orbitrap Exploris 120 mass spectrometer. This combination provides confident data acquisition, which can then be analyzed using Thermo Scientific software.Furthermore, Sven will discuss his current role, career path, and the various other opportunities to work at an analytical instrument vendor such as Thermo Fisher Scientific.About the SpeakerSven Hackbusch is currently a Senior Application Scientist at Thermo Fisher Scientific, responsible for the development of LC/MS applications related to structural elucidation for and in collaboration with customers in the Pharma/Biopharma markets. He first joined Thermo Fisher Scientific in 2017 as an Application Scientist in the LC/MS product demonstration laboratory, focusing on untargeted small molecule applications using Thermo Scientific Orbitrap technology.  Sven holds a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical and Chemical Sciences from the University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA, USA and a B.Sc. in Chemistry from the Justus Liebig Universität Gießen in Gießen, Germany. 3601 Pacific Ave, Stockton, CA 95211, USA College of the Pacific College of the Pacific America/Los_Angeles public
