This year's Pacific Piano Day will take place on March 9, 2024. High school pianists and piano teachers are invited to join the Conservatory piano faculty for a day of music making at University of the Pacific. Participate in master classes and hear current Pacific piano students.

All high school students (2023-24 school year) performing at the Certificate of Merit Level 8 and above are eligible (e.g. Bach Inventions; Sonatas by Haydn, Mozart or Beethoven; Chopin Nocturnes; Coleridge-Taylor Valse Suite).

Requirements:

  • Proficiency requirement: Certificate of Merit Level 8 or above
  • Repertoire: prepare one piece (memorization preferred)

Fees: 
$50 participant 
$25 observer (students who attend, but do not perform)
$20 piano teacher

Parents are welcome to attend at no charge. Observers and piano teachers will have the option of joining in person or via Zoom.

Master Classes

Piano Day participants are taught in a master class setting by conservatory piano faculty and they also observe fellow participants.

The closing recital features current conservatory students.

All events take place at the Conservatory of Music.

10 a.m. to noon — Master Classes

1 p.m. — Meet Director of Conservatory Admissions

1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. — Master Classes

3:30 p.m. — Campus tour

4 p.m. — Recital by Pacific piano students
